The Anchorage pedophile case: Supreme Court upholds CHILDLINE’s case »

It was one phone call on 1098, ten years ago. A call that informed CHILDLINE about abuse of children in the Anchorage shelter for street children run by Duncan Grant and Allan Waters, two Retired British Navy Officers in Mumbai.

It took CHILDLINE and its linked partners ten years of struggle and on March 18, 2011, P Sathasivam and Dr Balbir Singh Chauhan, Justices, Supreme Court upheld the appeal by CHILDLINE India Foundation and the Maharashtra Government against the Mumbai High Court Judgement (Cr Appeal no 476) in the Anchorage case.Read More »

CHILDLINE Berhampur rescues seven girls on their way to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

Berhampur: CHILDLINE Berhampur, in association with the Police, rescued seven teenage girls, from Kotgarh in the Kandhamal district. These girls were rescued from the bus stand at Kotgarh, while they were allegedly being trafficked to Aligarh in order to work at a meat packing industry.

“We intimated the districts of Kandhamal, Gajapati and Ganjam, and many children were rescued from various places in the city by CHILDLINE”, said Sudhir Sabat, Director, CHILDLINE Berhampur. Read more »

CHILDLINE @ Mumbai Marathon 2011 »

Like every year, the Standard Chartered Marathon brings alive the spirit of Mumbai. This year a total of 325 zealous individuals walked and ran to support CHILDLINE. Among the ardent corporate supporters were Star TV, Vodafone, Sanofi Aventis, TATA AIG and DSP Bankam ran for the Corporate challenge teams whilst MHFC (Micro Housing Finance Corporation), Marvel, Serum, Sampark, Viacom, RBS, Deloitte and Search Quest ran with the CHILDLINE team.

Volunteers from Different Walks of Life Unite for CSA Awareness »

The CSA awareness workshop held from 12th January to the 14th January saw participation from 28 enthusiastic volunteers, from diverse walks of life. Students, teachers and parents attended the four day workshop, while 13 resource persons took them through various aspects of CSA. Read more »
