A child-friendly Police Person:

  • Does not look at every street child as a potential law-breaker

  • Understands that children need a different approach

  • Tries to see the world from the point of view of a child

  • A child-friendly Health Worker:

  • Empathizes with a child’s fear of hospitals

  • Helps them with forms and admission or OPD procedures

  • Offers a greater measure of tender loving care to the child in hospital

  • A child-friendly Judiciary Officer:

  • Advocates proactively for child rights

  • A child-friendly Juvenile Justice System Functionary:

  • Makes the child’s best interests its priority

  • Does not criminalise children and seeks to dispense justice in a manner suitable to their age

  • A child-friendly Educationist:

  • Helps the child develop a questioning attitude

  • Encourages participation in the processes of education

  • Advocates for the inclusion of child rights in the curriculum

  • Watches out for, and guards against violation of the children’s rights

  • A child-friendly Transport System Functionary:

  • Helps the lost child, keeps an eye out for missing children and tries to relocate them

  • Understands that to street children, the buses, trains, platforms and stations are not just places through which they pass but in which they may have to live

  • A child-friendly Labour Department Official:

  • Works towards the prevention of the abuse of children in the workplace

  • Works towards the elimination of child labour

  • A child-friendly Media Person:

  • Promotes awareness about child’s rights

  • Ensures that coverage of children’s issues is handled sensitively and does not intrude upon the privacy of children

  • Involves the child proactively in media processes

  • A child-friendly DoT Official:

  • Provides support to child rights initiatives ensures the smooth functioning of 1098

  • A child-friendly Corporate Sector Employee:

  • Provides support to child rights initiatives

  • Is committed to child’s rights

  • A child-friendly Elected Representative:

  • Makes issues relating to child rights and child protection a priority

  • All of us:

  • Must call CHILDLINE when we see a child in any kind of distress
