National Framework

- The Juvenile Justice Act 2000 deals with children in need of care and protection. It includes a child who is found begging or who is either a street child or a working child.

How to tackle causes for children becoming street children?

It is necessary to work on Prevention and Support, to try and ensure that children are not exposed to exploitative situations to earn additional income.

Some examples of initiatives:
- Promoting Food security activities: to ensure reliable and adequate food supply.
- Developing Credit and saving facilities: to improve family income and security.
- Counselling families and communities on the long-term benefits of education.
