ARIES

Based on the national trends that emerge in CHILDLINE cities, the CIF initiates innovative programmes/services to address the needs. These new services are undertaken by the CIF as experimental projects. It is visualised that based on the success of these projects, the CIF would hand over these projects to other organisations or formalise the same within the CIF structure.

The Innovations wing at CIF or the wing for Action Research for Innovative Entrepreneurial Services (ARIES) as it is formally called is a social start up for launching innovative projects that aim to bridge gaps in child protection. Currently, the ARIES wing is working on the following projects:

  • Setting up a special unit to investigate institutional abuse

  • Anchoring a national network of non-profit helplines, to promote the use of telecommunication
  • technology for reaching the marginalised
  • Setting up a community radio for children
  • Coordinating the replication of child helplines globally
  • Research paper on missing children in India
  • A study on gaps in services for children at risk in India

Credibility Alliance
Credibility alliance is a consortium of nonprofit organisations that have come together to voluntarily develop and adopt performance standards in India. CHILDLINE India Foundation anchored the first phase of the development of the alliance that involved initial consultations with national and local NGOs, corporate bodies, individuals, and donors interested in a similar initiative. From this, a core group was worked out to evolve a current set of minimum norms. These were then discussed and debated through a consultation process (via both mail and the Internet) that involved several thousand NGOs. The basic minimum norms focus on transparency, board ethics, business plan, and accounting. These norms are evolving and the alliance is broadening and aims to achieve credibility for the voluntary sector.
