12 year old Raju's tiny shoulders were
weighed down by a massive responsibility. He had to assist his
mother in taking care of his six siblings. So the young boy
supported the family by selling kwai at the Barabazaar area. His
young mind wanted to explore, to learn. But school was only a
dream in a family that worked hard to survive. There seemed to
be no future except an endless cycle of trying to arrange for
the next meal. Till one day, he took a step forward towards
making his dream true by calling up CHILDLINE from a PCO on his
way to work. Our team decided to arrange for the morning school
and talked to the principal of Christ Church Morning School for
admission. Little Raju now attends school regularly and is doing
well in his studies. Despite his hardships, he opted to work
hard for a brighter future. Stories like this are a hope for
many other children who want a better life for themselves
but do not know how to start.
