CHILDLINE has registered 46,61,870 calls from its inception since June 1996 till October 2003.

At CHILDLINE we believe that every call that comes in is important.
Calls under the above  categories require direct intervention from the CHILDLINE team. The team address the emergency need of the child like Medical, Shelter , Repatriation, Rescue from Abuse,  Death, Missing, Sponsorship and Emotional Support and Guidance.

CHILDLINE has registered 12 % of calls coming in for Medical assistance which varies from first aid, OPD, Casualty, Hospitalisation, Accident. CHILDLINE TEAM members are trained to handle first aid cases which may be in the form of application of skin ointment, bandage, eye lotion, crocin etc. If the calls come at night, then the first aid given to the child is sfollowed up by OPD  tratement the following morning. As O.P.D close at 1:00 pm. Usually emergency calls for medical help after are taken to the casualty departmnent of hospitals.

Children call CHILDLINE seeking assistance for Shelter which are permanent shelter home some
children seek temporary shelter for health purposes. Calls for Shelter amount to 12%. Temporary or permanent shelter is provided to children who have either left home, abandoned, affected by Hiv Aids or have special needs, or children whose families are in crisis. Often this category of children are
repatriated back home.

Calls come in seeking guidance or emotional support like “ I do not want to study further” and many other innocent question amounts to 55 %  . There are calls that ask information about the CHILDLINE SERVICE and even calls regarding information about other facilities in the city For example “ Where can I find a good boarding school for my child “

There are calls which are categorized as silent calls. These are potential intervention calls, for the children who choose not to speak on the phone or  may be trying the facility, seeking response from the team member or may be afraid to speak at the first instance.
