The MDGs are the most successful global anti-poverty initiative in history reflecting the world of prosperity, equity, freedom, dignity and peace as embodied in the Millennium Declaration. Since 2000, when world leaders adopted the UN Millennium Declaration and committed themselves to the Millennium Development Goals, every year, UNICEF’s flagship Progress for Children report monitors progress towards these targets. The Progress for Children published by UNICEF presents the status of targets, progress and disparities on the child-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
