Mumbai Marathon 2008

The Mumbai Marathon was held on the 20th of January 2008. Besides being one of the biggest sporting events in Mumbai. this is an ideal platform for corporates and individuals to create senstisation and mobilize funds for charities. CHILDLINE India Foundation has this year been actively involved in encouraging individuals and corporates to run in support of their cause.

This year there were a large number of people who ran for CHILDLINE and raised funds for CHILDLINE. This year 10 corporate teams ran the Mumbai Marathon in support of CHILDLINE. The companies that supported us are Mphasis, DSP Merrill Lynch, L&T, Tata AIG Life Insurance Company, Star TV, Sanofi Aventis, British Gas, India Bulls and Axis Bank.

There were 4 runners in the dream team category – Queenie Dhody, Mr Mihir Dhosi, Mr Farrokh Kavarana and Mr Arijit Sengupta

Besides that there were individuals and volunteer groups who are running - ranging from students of Xaviers College to young corporates from Mercer and Future Generali and Mr Shashi Raghunandan from Times of Money

And last but not the least a team from CIF and CHILDLINE Mumbai including children also ran the Dream Run and at the same time shouting slogans about CHILDLINE 1098 and creating awareness about the service

On the day of the marathon,the atmosphere were full of excitement and over 30,000 people from all walks of life ran in support of different charities. The runners supporting CHILDLINE were clearly visible with their bright green CHILDLINE T Shirts and their CHILDLINE flags and banners.
