CHILDLINE & Kalaghoda Festival
Located in South Mumbai, Kalaghoda draws its name from a
statue of King
Edward
VII astride a black horse, which once stood at the centre of
the large
node on
Esplanade Road.
Kalaghoda Association hosts a 10 day long, annual Arts festival, catering to every aspect of the arts, and is enjoyed by tourists and thousands of residents of the city.
CHILDLINE India Foundation Mumbai added to the flavour by
putting up a
stall in
a tempo. We had this unique puppet show which was put in a
tempo with
the
CHILDLINE banners all around. The Mumbai Volunteers from Hamara
and
Kshan
helped us in doing the puppet show, making them dance on our
own
catchy
CHILDLINE song and a short script on how CHILDLINE comes to
rescue to
the
childlren in distress. While the kids and the people were dancing
to
our show,
the CIF team distributed pamphlets, posters, sticker labels and interracted with hundreds
of
people
telling them all about CHILDLINE.
It was mainly an awareness program but it was heartening to
see people
voluntarily donating, asking for details to volunteer help
and the
functioning of the organisation.
The stall was a joint effort by the entire CHILDLINE team
and was a
huge
success.
