Par Hamein Khelna Hai play

DELHI: As a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations, CHILDLINE in association with Patang and Sada Arts Society Organised a play, "Par Hamein Khelna Hai" at Shriram Centre, Mandi House, New Delhi on November 03, 2010.

The plot of the play revolves around children and their rights demonstrating how children can think independently of adults and in situations of stress actually show them the way. The play was set in the backdrop of riots in the city where the adults panic but children lead with their assertion of rights and teach the adults to deal with the situation. The play was sponsored by Network 18, Religare and Indsur.

CHILDLINE se dosti campaign inaugurated

VIJAYAWADA: A week-long 'Childline Se Dosti' campaign was being organised by the Forum for Child Rights, Vijayawada, as part of a nation-wide drive set in motion by Childline India Foundation. Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Ravindranath Babu inaugurated the campaign on November 08, 2010. Mr. Babu said the idea was to involve the common man in the drive to protect child rights.

Speaking at the launch of "Childline se Dosti" campaign, Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Ravindranath Babu said help was at hand for any child in distress in the form of '1098', the Childline toll free number introduced to rescue and rehabilitate children in need of help.The DCP formally kicked off a signature campaign at the TANA Rescue Shelter in Hanumanpet by appending his signature on a giant poster and also a cycle rickshaw campaign for audio publicity

Children's tied 'Suraksha Bandhan',

KOLKATTA: 'Suraksha Bandhan', protection wrist bands was tied on the wrists of the Police Commissioner, Special Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners. Children were presented with gift hampers by the Kolkata Police and food packets were distributed as the program came to an end.

CHILDINE Se Dosti walkathon at Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: CHILDINE Se Dosti walkathon was being organised by CHILDLINE in association with YTTS (Youth Technical Training Society), to create awareness among students about the prevention of child abuse. Students from government and private schools participated in the "walkathon", which was flagged off from Bougainvillea Garden, Sector 3, on November 10

Besides schoolchildren, the week-long campaign (November 8-14) also witnessed participation of NCC cadets, Nehru Yuva Kendra and differently abled students from Vatika school and the School for Blind, Sector 26.

UT Home Secretary Ram Niwas flagged off the event and offered support to the cause. The students met with Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Mukul Modgal on their way. He interacted with the children and told them that the judiciary was open to enforcing the rights of children

CHILDLINE Delhi Birthday Party 2010

CHILDLINE Delhi has completed 12 years of its functioning reaching out to over one lakh children every year. Children call 1098 to share their problems, grief, pain and happiness with the CHILDLINE teams. At CHILDLINE, children's voices and feedback has always been precious. Taking this relationship with children forward, CHILDLINE Delhi celebrated 12th Birthday at Delhi with a party for children from the children's home, the streets and slums of Delhi on November 13, 2010.

This was an informal fun filled event with food, music, dance, food, music, and other fun activities for the children. CHILDLINE birthday party is very special as most of them celebrate this day as their birthday since they have no memories of a family or birth year. For them it's their very own birthday party and they look forward to with much cheer and anticipation

Hundreds of children from various children's home, contact points, railway stations and communities came to have a ball of a time.. Amidst balloons and streamers and other festivities, the kids also came up with some performances. Volunteers from colleges, organisations helped us in decoration, registration and logistics/work for the day. And if all of this wasn't enough to get their tummies rumbling, there were yummy treats and drinks and finally the dinner. For those who wanted to chill a bit and take a break from dancing to hard to bollywood music there were also these various stalls for games, mehandi, face painting and tattoo.

CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations at Eluru

CHILDLINE team members tied Suraksha bandhan to Superintended of Police Mr. C Ravivarma IPS at his office during the CHILDLINE se Dosti week celebrated in Eluru.

Superintendent of Police West Godavari district Mr. C Ravivarma I P S celebrated his 50th birthday with CHILDLINE children at CHILDLINE rescue home, Eluru on 2nd Nov 2010. He spent time talking to children and gave the gifts. CWC chairperson of West Godavari (dist) Fr. G Moses and Fr. A Raju CHILDLINE Collab director, Mr. J Rajendra Prasad and CHILDLINE team members were present during the celebrations.

CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations at Wayanad

As a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti celebrations, Suraksha bandan, Dosti Rally, Signature campaign, Painting competition, street outreach, open houses, tribal Village outreach were held from November 8th to 14th, 2010.

Suraksha bandhan- Baby Ester, film actress, tied CHILDLINE band and pined badge to the police personnel and to T Bhaskaran IAS, dist. collector, K. Vijayan ADM, KL Paulose, District Panchayat president, Sparjan Kumar IPS Superintend of Police, IN Thasnkamani DDE, Ramesh Ezhuthachan press club secretary, PB Jijo member of KUWJ.

Tribal Village Outreach- A special Tribal Village Outreach programme arranged at Madakunnu tribal colony in connection with special week. It was inaugurated by MP Hameed, Chairman Kalpetta Municipality.

CHILDLINE Se Dosti Rally - A colorful rally was organized with the support of NSS units of Govt. Vocational HSSS and Technical HSSS, Bathery. More than 300 volunteers participated in the program. NSS programme officers were accompanied the rally.

Signature campaign- The campaign was conducted at Swathandra Mythani, S. Bathery on November 12, 10. The programme was inaugurated by Adv. A Aravindhakshan, CWC chairman, Wayanad.

Painting competition- As part of special week, CHILDLINE was organized district level painting competition in three blocks. There were 427 children from UP, HS and HSS competent each other. There were 131 in Manathavady block, 142 in Vythiri block and 154 in Bathery block. Out of 427 children, 93 were from tribal community. The team was "childhood". The winners will be given prize later after detailed screening. Coordinators and team members' were led the programme.

Awareness programme on Child rights - Child Rights awareness programme for police personnel was held at Govt gust house Kalpetta and CPGSSW, Bathery.

Special Outreach programme - Two special street outreaches were conducted during the week at Bathery and Kalpetta. CHILDLINE team led the programme. Team visited almost all shops in two towns and distributed IEC materials.

CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations at Tirunelveli

CHILDLINE Se Dosti Rally was flagged off on November 13, 2 010 from M.D.T. Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Tirunelveli to Saranalayam. 500 people participated in the rally including School Children, College Students, Police officials and CHILDLINE Team members. The rally emphasized protection for children against all kinds of harassment such as child trafficking, sexual abuse, child beggary, child labour foeticide and also stressed the need for greater public responsibility for care for children.Mr. Loyola Ignatius, the assistant commissioner of police - Tirunelveli district flagged off the rally. The N.S.S. and the red -cross association of MDT Hr. Sec. School actively participated in the rally.

As a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations, SMS campaign was carried out by CHILDLINE. Nearly 5000 people were reached through the SMS campaign.

Suraksha Bandhan was tied to the Government officials, Auto Drivers and College students participated in the program very actively.

Healthy baby competition was conducted in Palayamkottai Market with the support from Red Cross Society. 75 children participated in this program between the age group of 1 to 5. Based on the normal standards to be kept to a child, the prizes were given to the children. The Centre Coordinator gave a talk on child rights and CHILDLINE 1098.

Signature Campaign at Kochi

On November 13, 2010, CHILDLINE Kochi organised mega dosti event at Snehabhavan, Palluruthy. Thousands of children participated in Drawing Competition, Exhibition Programme, Craft making activities, games, and cultural events were held. Suraksha Bandhan was tied to 30 police officials. Signature Campaign was carried out in 324 schools in Ernakulam District with the theme as "CHILDLINE num Koottukarum" was signed by 3 Lakh Children.

Children's visit to Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata

On November 12,2010, CHILDLINE Kolkata organised a special visit to Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata for the under privileged children. 300 children from various Children's Home participated in the programme. During the ice-breaking segment, Neepabithi Ghosh, celebrity, Singer anchored the programme held at the auditorium. Along with children, CHILDLINE Volunteers, escorts from Shelter homes participated in the programme.

Representatives from Allied system, Corporate were present to encourage the children. Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board members, ATSEC Secretary, South Asia were present during the occasion.

Reading workshop as a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations

CHILDLINE Puri organised a day long reading workshop as a part of the CHILDLINE Se Dosti celebrations. The day long program was appreciated by the district authorities in the SSA and the intelligentsia appealed the coordinators of this program to conduct it across the education district. CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations unfolded an innovation on the eve of observing children's week. A group of senior citizen connected to academia and civil society witnessed the entire process of competition and experiment with loud reading and its impact on memory as well as understanding.

CHILDLINE Puri got a citizenry felicitation for promoting reading and innovations on implementing child rights. Some eminent persons were also felicitated for their contribution in the field of child development with a plaque of honor. Dr Kailash Tikayat Ray, Ex-Director Odia Bhasa Pratisthan, Odisha. Workshop for Police personnel at GRP lines

CHILDLINE Jammu organised a one day workshop with police personnel at GRP lines as a part of 'Chilldine-Se-Dosti' week being organised at Jammu. Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Nodal Director Chilldine was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dhawan stressed upon the attitudinal change required for the cause of children and the missionary approach required to deal with the children's issues.

She urged upon the police personnel to extend their helping hand in eradicating child abuses from the society as police is always watchful of the society.The activity was conducted by Dy SP Dr. Usha Kher of GRP lines.

Dr. Savita Nayyar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Law was the Resource Person and she threw light on the need and relevance of Juvenile Justice Act in this State. Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Nodal Officer Childline Jammu gave introduction about the Chilldine project at national level and its initiation in the Jammu city. During the workshop a skit and a cultural item was presented by the slum children of Trikuta Nagar. The activity was coordinated by the Childline team in collaboration with Police Department.Entire Chilldine team including Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva and Dr. Bharti Prabhkhar from CACE, Jammu University and Nitu Rakwa-Media Coordi-nator Chilldine was also present along with others on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by O.P Gupta, Coordinator, CHILDLINE Jammu.

Suraksha Bandan at Coimbatore

The children with CHILDLINE Coimbatore team members met the District collector, commissioner of police on November 09, 2010 and tied Suraksha Bandhan as a gesture of our appreciation for their continued commitment and support. Children tied Suraksha Bandhan to the Coimbatore District Collector, City Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

CHILDLINE mass awareness program at Cuddalore

CHILDLINE Cuddalore conducted a mass awareness program at Cuddalore Bus stand with the student of St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School and Municipal Hr. Sec. School. 20 students from various schools in Cuddalore volunteered in the programme.

5k run at Vijayawada

A 5K Run was conducted to mark CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations and the International Child Rights Day on November 20 at Vijayawada. The objective of the event was to spread awareness about Child Rights and CHILDLINE Service 1098. There was a huge turnout from various colleges of the twin cities for the run and youngsters participated enthusiastically. The run was flagged off by MP Anjan Kumar Yadav amidst a huge wave of youthful excitement.

The Guests of Honour included MLA Christine Lazarus; Ex-MLA Della Godfrey, Swarna Bernard, Administrator, HAES and Tarun Kumar Bose, Chief Regional Manager, IOB.The Run culminated into a short programme at Sanjeevaiah Park where the dignitaries addressed the gathering. Child Line is a 24 hour telephone helpline service that reaches out to every child in distress, said V.K. Swamy, Principal, St. Joseph's Degree and P.G. College and appreciated the encouraging response from the youth for supporting a social cause. Divya Disha Chairman Isidore Philip entreated the young audience to echo the oath for the day 'Yes we can' for safe childhood.

Special Juvenile Police Unit Orientation Programme at Bangalore

As a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti Celebrations, CHILDLINE Bangalore organised Special Juvenile Police Unit Orientation Programme (SJPU) on November 10, 2010. Mr. Radhakrishna, Sub-Inspector, central zone, Bangalore, 13 SJPUs from central zone, Bangalore attended the programme.
