CHILDLINE Gurgaon in association with Pedalyatri Group and Gurgaon Ki Awaz FM channel organised a cycle rally from Gurgaon to Ajmer. A group of enthusiast cyclists including professionals, doctors, and lawyers covered a journey of 320 kms from Gurgaon to Ajmer in 22 hours to generate awareness on Child Labour and Child Trafficking.
The event was flagged off by Mr. R S Kataria, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon on February 5, 2011. A group of nine cyclists from Gurgaon have completed a 320-km ride to Ajmer in a bid to sensitize people against child labour and raise funds.
The "Mission Cycle to liberate Childhood" campaign aimed to raise awareness against child labour and trafficking and to spread a message that child labour is unacceptable in society and bring joy to children who are forced to work in factories, dhabbas, fields and as domestic help. The funds generated through the event will be used for buying a vehicle for CHILDLINE Gurgaon for the purpose of rescuing children. The campaign was an attempt to bring a little joy to the unfortunate children who are forced to work at factories, dhabbas and fields and worse still, as domestic help, bordering on slavery.
A street play on Child labour was staged during the programme. The play presented a very real picture of the life of children working as child Labourers. The Initiative was supported by The Body Shop.
