CHILDLINE Coimbatore opens a booth to help children in Coimbatore Railway Junction on January 7, 2011. The CHILDLINE booth was inaugurated by P. Umanath, Collector, Coimbatore at the Coimbatore Railway Junction.The booth will help children who had run away from their homes or who had been deserted by their parents and it is being manned during peak hours of train arrival and departure.

CHILDLINE has four booths at Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, Coimbatore Railway Junction and Singanallur Bus Stand in Coimbatore where the public can bring the rescued children. Those who are unable to bring them can call the emergency number 1098, said Director, CHILDLINE Coimbatore.

CHILDLINE also had roped in vendors, porters, parcel service personnel and auto drivers at the station to help in bringing the abandoned children to the booth under the aegis of the Sharing Community Groups that have been initiated. CHILDLINE booth is jointly run by the CHILDLINE and the district administration at the Coimbatore Junction.
