CHILDLINE 1098 Service is now available to the children of Srinagar and has been launched by CHILDLINE India Foundation in collaboration with Human Effort for Love and Peace (H.E.L.P) Foundation in Srinagar. Mr.Asghar Hassan Samoon, Divisional Commissioner launched CHILDLINE Srinagar on March 19, 2011 in Srinagar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Asghar said that "the Government is serious to implement JJ Act and establish Juvenile homes in the valley and will ensure full cooperation for the CHILDLINE Service."
"A juvenile home was in the final phase of its completion and it will be thrown open shortly.""It is the first of its kind in Valley exclusively dedicated to juveniles who have no one to look after," said Dr Samoon. "We will issue a circular to all Deputy Commissioners to co-operate with CHILDLINE," stressed Dr.Asghar.
CHILDLINE service backed with a team of professionals for children of Kashmir will report and respond to the issues of children in distress. Nighat Shafi, Chairperson, HELP Foundation delivered welcome address.
The function organised by HELP Foundation and attended by President and Vice President of J&K Bank, Government officials, senior citizens, civil society members and social activists. Meanwhile, in line with its CSR policy J & K Bank sponsored the inaugural function of 'CHILDLINE.'
