Highlights: First CAB meeting of CHILDLINE Kolhapur

Outcome: CHILDLINE Advisory Board has been constituted to make Kolhapur a Child friendly city and to take work on a broader perspectives of Child Protection.CHILDLINE Kolhapur organised a CHILDLINE Advisory Board (CAB) meet in Kolhapur and discussed a number of issues and concerns of the children.

*Mr.Rajaram Mane, ‪‎District‬ ‪‎Collector‬ chaired the CAB meeting at the Collectorate in Kolhapur.

*Child marriage Prohibition Committee formed to work in tandem to create awareness and eradicate the practice.

*In a bid to spreading awareness on 1098 service, CHILDLINE stickers to be printed on text books distributed in the Zilla Parishad schools.

*The Police to assist and extend support CHILDLINE team during Child labour rescue operations. The Superintendent of Police to issue a circular to the officials at all the police stations across Kolhapur to support CHILDLINE.

*The District Medical Officer to issue a circular to provide first preference to the cases referred by CHILDLINE. Reports for abuse and age determination cases will be the priority. Medical checkup and treatment would be free of cost.

*The DCPU to provide support to CHILDLINE during major case rescues such as child marriage, child labour and also to share the resource directory.

CHILDLINE teams presented problems found via interaction with marginalised children, at Open House sessions, to the CAB and stake holders are engaged in finding solutions. In many ‪‎cities‬, the CABs have done extraordinary work, passed orders and collaborated to find solutions to complex issues. It’s a proven method to directly link Governance & Administrative bodies to children's problems.
