CHILDLINE 1098 SERVICE » Strategic Policy Initiative » The National Initiative for Child Protection (NICP) » 2010 NICP Workshops » Workshop for Police on Child Trafficking »

A workshop on Child Trafficking was organised by CHILDLINE Berhampur for police personnel on February 28, 2011 to discuss measures that can help to check the illegal trafficking of women and children.

Inaugurating the workshop, Sarat Mohapatra, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Berhampur said that the need of the hour is increased consciousness among parents living in remote areas to prevent trafficking.

Experts present at the workshop advocated the need of the formation of anti-trafficking committees in every district of the State. They supported the need for registration of marriages to be made mandatory as there was a rise in number of girls getting exploited and trafficked in the name of false marriages.
