The National Initiative for Child Protection (NICP) workshop at GRP Commissionerate was held to sensitise the Government Railway Police (GRP). Mr. Tukaram Chavan, Commissioner, GRP, Mumbai inaugurated the workshop.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tukaram Chavan said GRP Police must play an active role in protection of child rights. It was essential for the staff participants to enhance their awareness level on child-related issues like their rights and problems. Any policemen, when came across a child in need of help, must take him to the concerned authorities and hand him over to the CHILDLINE, he added.

Also present on the occasion were Ms. Sarita Shankaran, Program Officer, Save the children, Ms. Anjali Gokarn, Ex- CWC member, Ms Arokia Mary, YUVA were the resource persons. Assistant Commissioner, GRP, Ms. Mary Arokia, Director, YUVA, Mr. Carlyle Pereira, Acting Head, WRRC, CIF

The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Tukaram Chavan, Commissioner, GRP, Mumbai by the auspicious lighting the lamp. The workshop was organized by CHILDLINE Mumbai and supported by the National Institute of Public Co-operation and Child Development (NIPCCD).
